Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is also know as Dysmetabolic Syndrome, Insulin Resistant Syndrome, Obesity Syndrome, or Syndrome X.
Metabolic syndrome is a group of conditions that increases an individual's risk for type 2 diabetes,
heart disease, and stroke.
These conditions include increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal
cholesterol or triglyceride levels.

At least 3 of the 5 conditions need to present for a diagnosis:- Increased waist circumference by ethnically appropriate cut points
- High fasting triglyceride level >150 mg/dL
- Low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) (<40 mg/dL in men, <50 mg/dL in women)
- High blood pressure
- Elevated glucose
